In these days when most people are scared to go for VCT or even disclose their HIV status, Paul "Slim" Banda is a shining light. The 22 year old Lusaka based producer, singer, music writer and HIV Activist is an ordinary guy with an extra ordinary attitude towards life. Paul was born with HIV Positive but only learnt about his status when he was 15 and if you ask him, he confesses that it hasn't been easy to come to terms with his condition.
"It took a lot of courage to come to this point where I can talk about my status publicly. This condition is one that young people should take seriously and ensure that they protect themselves from it," says Paul.
But this condition hasn't stopped Paul from living a full life and reaching his dreams. The budding beat smith has produced for Slap Dee, Ruff Kid and P Jay as feature artists on other people's songs) Lloyd and Juvic. He produced Slap Dee's 'Nichidinize',an infectious song that features LloyDee, member of X.Y.Z. He co-produced Gold Digga,the groundbreaking Slap Dee single that features Jk. He single handedly produced LloyDee's Bondix Album, with the lead singles being Bondix ft. Slapdee & Ma Chain ft. Siphe. he later on produced his single 'Beat,Vocal,Nyimbo which featured Maya. He has also produced for Juvic who's now with K-amy.
Paul plans to produce for a couple of renowned artists and make his studio commercial. Being an Aids Activist he also intend to start a foundation that will help young people living with HIV. Other than that he released a single last year entitled 'Me' which was featured in the documentary and I intend to follow up with an album next year.
