Dj Sly hit me up with some new Fally Ipupa,the album Arsenal de Belles Melodies.
I have sampling the album since yesterday. Its a good album with some good tunes here and there....I particularly liked Chaise Electrique featuring Olivier,which i must say is the msot daring track on the album. olivier sings in English and damn right she kills it,fally sings the hook in english and puts in a verse in lingala. Its one hot song that is bound to cross borders because it has an R&B beat and olivier really does a good job on the English side of things.

Exile Breaks Ties With Romaside

AFTER a long silence, singer Kangwa Kampamba alias Exile has released a new album titled “7 days” on which he features Runell and Ozzy.

Referring to it as a real classic and ‘a must have’ for his fans, Exile hails himself as having done the album in a record time of seven days , hence the title.

“…. it was done and finished in seven days, but it’s a classic album which Exile fans will not afford to miss,” he assures.

The new album “7 days” has 10 tracks among them a song titled “Nganalikwebele” (If I told you), a track already riding high on number two on the local charts as a promo.

In “Nganalikwebele” Exile tells his ‘lover’ that he could not say the absolute truth about his past life because the truth would damage their relationship.

The singer says he has not yet set a date for his fourth album launch but is expected to start a countrywide promotional tour where he will talk more about his new producers Sebastian Mutale and Tarcissius Chikopela.

Exile’s announced new album comes barely a week after he abandoned what would have been a successful album titled “Nkungulume” or “Superman” recently recorded at Roma Side studios which he has simply referred to as a “wasted” project.

“Forget that album, it’s gone that’s it and I have nothing to do with it,” he said in an interview yesterday.

He explained that there were complications surrounding the album which forced him to abandon the project and focus on a new one which will be in stores starting tomorrow.

“I don’t hold anything against anyone but I will not promote that project because it had complications. All I can say is that I have left Roma Side and this new album is under “Show down Entertainment,” he said.

On this new album Exile doesn’t feature his highly talented wife Nalu, saying she is working on her own project.

“Nalu is an artiste in her own right and her album is coming up soon. I don’t want to confuse people into thinking that we are a duet of some kind,” he said.

“On the other hand, people should not feel too starved of our two voices together, I can assure our fans that after she completes her own project, we will then do a joint album.”

I must say Im dissapointed. It looks like Romaside has grown too big for TK to handle on his own...even their website is down now. Its true that 'Nkungulume' was a waste of time and money...and thats a double loss. Last time I read an news story in the post where Tk was being sued by a certain artist for breaching a recording contract. he owed the artist unpaid royalties. But whats more surprising is that Exile's album is on sell on zamtunes.com. Shit like this will kill zambian music cuz we dont have labels to take care of the artist business so that the artist can focus on making music.

I read in the comments where some1 asked me why I opened this blog. Like do I do it to spread the music or have royal fans? That was a good one,I didnt think of it that way. Me? when it comes to music,I just do it..cuz there is no other way of being for me...this is the only life I know.
but I started this blog so I could promote Zambian music...trust me there is alot of music that you cant hear on radio but deserves a chance for exposure...thats where this blog comes in,to showcase the artists and let you the people rate their music...simple and plain. I didnt want to promote K'Millian or Jk or Danny or any other big stars out there. What I had in mind was a promotion platform for people that dont get a chance to have their songs on radio. So this comments thing is not about me as a dj...its about you and the artist. You see..think of it in this way...like its a conversation. The astists put out the music...and you the listener/downloader say how you like or dislike it,simple and plain. So I wont put that log in thing.....but all the same I hope you understand how its supposed to work. Imagine urself as BM Sampa stumbling on this blog and finding your song posted and being downloaded like 50 hits and the downloaders arent saying shit! It might give you a picture that your song sucks so you need to improve...or if you have a big ego...you will feel like you did a very good job so you dont have to raise the bar on your next project.

I was in choma yesterday and I got over a hundred new Zed tracks from a Dj I met in an internet cafe,he goes by the name Dj BM and dude can mix like hell,he even gave me some of his mixes and pics so I will be doing a promo on him soon. He also has a studio and he gave me two promo tracks of an artist that he is managing and producing. The artist name is Stunna and one of the promos actually features Shyman of the Fendela Fenduze fame.

Like all good things,Zambian music keeps getting better.That much is evident on Dandy Krazy's latest album 'Not Guilty. He took the Zambian music scene by storm with his self titled debut album with hits like 'I luv you mami' and 'Chimutunta'. I must admit that I slept on his first album and dismissed him as a one-time-hit-wonder,I was WRONG.Not Guilty' gives us a glimpse into the life of an artist who is not afraid to sing his heart out. The album speaks of a creativity and diversity that comes only with the ambitions of a man who is still going a long way. I can bet you a ngwee that there are less than 5 artists out there that can compete with Dandy lyrically . He keeps it real without even trying.This album not only shows Dandy's growth as an artist...but also brings to light the man behind such good music.He goes by the name of BASKA!Baska is a killa producer who is set to leave his footprints on the zambian music sands . The man has given his magic touch to artist like Choklet,Jo Boy and most of the Dangerzone artist roster. Avid followers of Zambian music can recognise his trademark 'nimbamu'and 'baska baska' shouts on the tracks that he has produced.The beats are hard hitting punches that dont miss their target.With Baska as he partner in rhyme (crime!),Dandy proves once and for all that he is here to stay. Critics tried in vain to find a flaw in this budding self proclaimed ragga gangster....but with this project,he effortlessly declares that he is 'Not Guilty' of their accusations. And if he is not Guilty,then we the fans find ourselves guilty for doubting him in the first place.

The album opens with 'My Love' a blazing track that is sure to become a club anthem. It finds him praising the lady of his life for her love. He even goes as far as saying 'Palamapa sopoke kiss,mwaaa!'. Clearly he is a man who has a way with words.

Track numba 2 is the chart topping 'Nyeleti' a song that poses a challenge to Runnel's Panado. It features Baska and a lady who's name I cant get no matter how many times I play the track. Its fun to observe how Dandy used metaphors in his song writing. Those that truly listen to music may have seen that the injection being sung about is something else. I wont say it because kids might be reading this.

'Tubombela akabwali' is a manifestation of Dandy's diversity as he touches on issues that affect eveyone of us,especially in a third world country like ours.It implores those in power to do something about the meagar salaries of the average working person. This is indeed a brave move on by Dandy. He mentions no names but the average listener will be wise enough to know what he is takling about and probably relate to it.

On 'Ups and Downs',Dandy shares his life experiences with us. He talks about being brought up by relatives who treated him like a slave and let him do all the house chores while their children were playing.Baska did a good job on the beat tho it sounds like P-Sqaure's 'No One Like You'. Many a child out there can relate to this song. I did.

The title track,'Not Guilty' features Jo Boy. The song itself is self explanatory. It talks about police brutality and features a phrase that many a person who has ever been arrested has heard before-'Uzakambila kusogolo!'

Tanzania's Mr Nice is probably crying foul if he has listened to 'My First Lady' a track where Dandy flips it in Swahili on the chorus. This song is bound to appear on charts as it has the sing-a-along vibe that is common to hit songs. It features Baska,who proves that he can sing as well.

'Will You Marry Me' is Dandy's perfect proposal as he tells the ladys that he is tired of bachelorhood and wants to settle down. I love it how he sings with convictionon the chorus. The amusing part of the song is at the end where he sings 'twalashimya namafoni,nkaposemo naka junior'.

'My African Way' finds Dandy flipping it in English as he talks about our african routes of slavery. I would have loved to hear how this song would have turned out in venacular. Its a freedom song that celabrates the African man's victory over colonialism and yet at the same time cries for a much greater freedom. That freedom from Neo-Colonialism. Respect.

'Bachelor' is similar to 'Will you marry me' in theme even though its a different track on its own. The man,like all single men of his age is saying he envies having a wife and a child. Baska lends his rookie vocals too even though he does a good job on the boards,this track sounds like the jamaican diwali riddim,which is no surprise as Dandy reminds us that he is a ragga gangster.As real as it gets,Dandy is saying is tired of wet dreams, he wants the real thing. Single men brings please stand up! haha.

Chintelelwe! Hit! Hit! Hit! Enough said.

'Winekuka' reminds me of Aliya's 'Try Again'and Daliso's 'Shansha'. It simply encourages those who have failed in their endevours not to give up but try again. This is one of the best songs on the album...and I cant wait to play it for my 30 yr old cousin who has failed grade 7 eleven times. Surely he can try again after hearing this piece.lol!

'Aipaye Wanu' is a warning to Child molesters,human traffickers and all them lews mofos who prey on children. The Geeeeerrrreeee Boy Unit wont have mercy on those caught in the above mentioned acts.If there some of you who believe that still sleeping with a child can cure Aids WATCH OUT!!! Your life is on the line .

'Kukusiya Ninkondo' Finds Dandy telling his lady that he is not going anywhere. He will never leave her bause she has changed his life. Surprisingly,this is the only track in the album that has a reggae feel to it. Good job Baska.

I want to clear the air on this one.'Zubalanga' is not Dandy 's song. Its Baska's song! and big up to him for doing such a splendid job on the beat and the lyrics. He employs a little of a vocoder on the chorus to certify this club banger. This tune has hit written all over it because of the sing-a-long hook. Ben Blazer,TK Romaside and other producers who thought they had Zambian music production on lock better watch out. Baska is a killer producer who is not to be doubted and a singer who is has already paved a way for his solo album with this hit.

Even I must admit that most of the beats almost sound the same because they were done by the same person...yet there is no trace of monotony.There is no doubt that Baska is one talented producer who makes quality beats that people will play and appreciate for a long time. He is to Dandy what Dr Dre is to Eminem,what TK Romaside is to Exile and the Third and what Ben Blazer is to Petersen.

Congratulations Dandy! Its another hit album.I find you Not Guilty.

Another one! I hope Im not doing too much with these mixtapes. Went to a party on wednesday...damn got drunk like fcuk!...and the song that they were playing so much was Zubalanga by Baska! Its all over. I really need to quit strong drinks....they are messing up my voice. I have been in talks with the Station Manager for Radio Macha...and I might be offered a place there. Its a lot of work cuz its a Community Radio Station...so the format is full spectrum..u know where they do just about everything so as to cater to everybody in the community. Its exciting all the same...plus the experience will be invaluable. I still keeping my options open though,cuz I really want to work in Lusaka or Livingstone...thats where the action is at...plus I still need to do my practicals in Capetown cuz without them my training is incomplete. We will see what tomorrow will bring.

I had to leave you with something to step to for the week. If you are an avid follower of Zed music...you know you cant afford to take these Zambezi songs for granted. These are classic grooves that are bound to take you down memory lane. I owe this mixtape to Dj Sly for such beautiful music that he sent me. I think that if there are people here that dig rhumba music from Congo,you may have also come to the conclusion that it is one of the richest and best music genres in this world. I just love it how almost every rhumba artist uses a live band for backing....if you use headphones like me..you cant help but wonder how its like when these guys record these songs....cuz you hear like 7 to 15 voices backing in unison and harmony! I must admit that all I play day and out is a heavy dose of Koffie,Fally Ipupa,Ferre Gola,Defao,Celeo Scram,J Blue,Papa Wemba,Bozi Boziana, Shiko Mawatu,Carlyto,Blese Bula.... I cant mention everything. I guess the other inspiration for this mixtape and the coupe decale one is that I passed my second Radio Broadcasting assignment,I got 80% and what the marker said brought tears to my eyes. He said I have a gift for communication. I didnt see myself that way....I just do what I do because thats the only life I know,even when Im studying at 4 in the morning or mixing music at 21 hrs..I dont do it to gain approval or impress....I dont know any other way to be than the f*cked up guy I am who loves music and radio to death. 'For Shizzy is a dope tune that raises the bar of Zed hip-hop. The beat is tight!....following a common pattern of most chart topping rap songs and the flow is supa dupa cool!. 'For Shizzy' also finds the rhyme sayer flipping it in English......impressive!
Goldigger is a tight joint too....Jk lends his magic voice to the hook.
I have been looking forward to this coralobaration ever since Slap Dee came onto the music scene. It was bound to happen looking at Jk's resume of hooks for Rap artists the like of Crisis( I Wanna Know) and Dancehall newcomer Kayombo (Just Know That I Love You)
These are way much better than Chimudala Chapala,which is just one rotten track I feel should never have seen the light of day.
The fact that Petersen(Umamvela bwanji,Munyaule) and Danny (Ka Fluffy)can get away with satire is because they do it creatively....real subliminal and all.
Slap Dee went too far with his song chimudala chapala.....Not only did he lose some mass appeal,he wasted a blazing beat...so much for starting contraversy before an album drops. Its promo all the same cuz Im sure people are talking about the song. But as usual Im just saying....I aint hating or d*ck riding,I felt my 2 cents was worth a say.

I came across these two hits by Banky, the Nigerian R$B crooner. Damn dude is fire for real! I have been playing strong ting for hours and hours. I even wrote down some lyrics for my own version of the song. I will cut out the last part of the song where the instrumental is clear and repeat it several times to make a complete beat then sing over it. I luv the flute on Strong Ting....oh damn,this tune is so so smooth.

Been a long time coming. I was in Lsk for some time but I didnt bring any new music. Wolf Wailer is an upcoming reggae artist based in Zambia. He started out as rapper back in 2001. He was in a Group with Machi(Dj Prodigal of Hone FM). After recording a hip hop demo tape composed of 12 songs,the artist gave up on rap and started singing. When asked who he diverted to reggae from hip-hop. He says rap just lost meaning to him as most of the rap music around is stuff that people cant relate to.'Because of the frivolous rap music around,alot of people don't listen to it anymore,so even if I was to say something sensible in a rap song...that fact that its a rap song is gonna turn alot of people away. So I found another way of expressing myself...instead of rapping my lyrics,I sing them. I have found a joy in reggae that I thought I couldn't in music. the riddims just make me wanna pour my heart out...and sing forever' wailer elaborates.' I have been influenced by so many genres of music and artists...I would exhaust a whole page naming them. From rumba music to neo soul....and from artist like Bob Marley to C'Danger to Thomas Chibade of Malawi'.

When asked why he goes by the name of wolf Wailer,he says what Bob Marley said of the wailers,that they are wailers because they were born crying. 'the wailer comes from my love of Bob Marley and the Wailers....personally I think Bob Marley is the greatest star that has ever lived. Marley was just so so awesome..I cant help but wonder what it was like to be around him. and the Wolf is a name I gave myself because Im a loner...cuz you know wolves walk alone..and it kinda stuck. Before I knew it everybody was calling me Wolf.....probably because of my afro too....' he laughs.

He just did this song over the 'My Baby Riddim'. 'This is the first time I have recorded a song in 4 years....and speaking of this record...its not perfect at all cuz I was playing the role of artist and sound engineer alternatively. Even if it didn't come out the way i wanted, I recorded it 25 times over to arrive at what it sounds like now. I was trying to do it all in one take...but then I was running out of breath after the second chorus..plus I recorded with with Adobe Audition on a laptop'.

Black Jombo's Empty Room Intro

Here are three songs from Jombo's unpublished album. I was with him yesterday and he gave me permission to upload them. He is now doing gospel records so Im not sure if this album will see the light of day. In case you don't know, Black Jombo was in the group New Age with Jk and other artists. Obama Inspires New Zed Song

LUSAKA—People from around the world have drawn inspiration from U.S. President Barack Obama’s messages about hope and empowerment. Now, a group which includes many of Zambia’s top musical performers, have used this same inspiration to record “Change We Can Believe In,” a catchy new song aimed at inspiring Zambian youth.

Well-known Zambian percussionist and human rights activist Brian Changala (aka “Shakarongo”) and U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Officer Christopher Wurst conceived the idea for the song, which was inspired by Obama’s inaugural address—portions of which are sampled within the song. The pair brought in John Phiri, the Director of Global Justice Zambia, an organization that aims to teach Zambian youth about the importance of voting and civic participation. In very little time, Mr. Chengala had assembled an A-team of performers, ready to use the energy of Obama’s motivation to reach out to Zambian youth.

The song, which blends pop music with elements of calypso and hip hop, features the lyrics: Different people, different tongues, But still we resolve to make a difference;
Not just a dream, hope and words; Change we can believe in.

And: Uniting to stand for change we believe in, building a world for now and tomorrow.”

Besides Shakarongo, the song features Mutamula Mwale, Jay, Elijah, Sheko, Mau, Sista D, Yvonne Mwale, Dambisa, Bee Man, Sebastian Mutale, and John Kabanga.
“It was an honor to do a song based on Obama’s inaugural speech,” said Mr. Chengala. “It was a challenge to assemble an A-team of singers, both young and veteran, but my job was made easier by the musician’s enthusiasm about Obama’s message.”

Said singer Sheko: “It’s been an honor doing something based on Obama. I remember the day he won; I was so excited I started composing a song with my kids shouting “Obama, Obama,” not knowing that one day I would actually be asked to be part of a real project. I am excited!”

The song’s release coincides with the visit of Eric Casher, an organizer for Obama’s presidential campaign. Mr. Casher will be speaking to a variety of audiences about the importance of civic and electoral participation, youth empowerment and grassroots organizing. The visit is sponsored by the U.S. Mission to Zambia.

The song has been distributed to every radio station in Zambia and, according to Mr. Wurst, a copy of the song has even been sent to the White House. “When our President hears this song, he’s definitely going to want to learn more about Zambia!”

You know.....as a Radio broadcaster in training I'm into books. I'm always looking for ways to improve my vocabulary cuz in these days of emails and sms,you will be surprised that you cant spell the word diarrhea any more. I just fished reading this funny and crazy book by Robert Ludlum called the 'Road To Gondolfo'. Wait a minute! I never knew Robert Ludlum would be funny,cuz most of the books I have read by him are thrillers. Titles like The Sigma Protocol,The Cry Of The Halidon, The Bourne Identity(So you didnt know?). He was also not sure of the readers reaction to the Road To Gondolfo so he wrote it under the pen-name Michael Shephard. Oh Damn! this is one funny book. A General is kicked out of the Army and what does the guy do? He blackmails 4 of some of the worlds richest criminals so he can kidnap the Pope and hold him for ransom. The ransom is a staggering 400 million dollars,one dollar for every catholic in the world at that time. he goes about to hire an attorney (who is unwilling as hell) to set up a company so he can channel the blackmail money into to make it look legal. he also hires some of the most experienced army men who were forced into retirement to do the kidnapping job. Not to mention his 4 voluptuous ex wives who will still do anything for him. they get to kidnap the Pope...and guess what? the Pope doesn't mind being kidnapped. In fact he kinda starts to like it living with his abductors than in Rome. If you ever find yourself with nothing to do,get yourself this book. Its one hell of a read,i just got myself the sequel,The Road To Omaha. this has nothing to do with the music below

I gatta throw my two cents in on this one. Cactus is one creative dude...but he is not top notch yet. The song sounds too rehearsed and duplicated. I feel he is trying to hard to have that Jamaican accent its messing up the song. But the song is damn hot.

I just caught wave of this...but Im sure most of you have heard it. Apparently Maiko has resigned as child abuse and labour ambassador for Zambia following his arrest for trafficking weed. The cops found him with a reasonable amount of dank to arrest him.
You know what?I would smoke weed any given day....but trafficking? thats out. It looks like the global economy crisis is hitting close to home for him to resort to hustling what he smokes for inspiration. He was supposed to be in the slammer for a year.....but he is gonna do 180 days because the judge reasoned that keeping him much longer is a waste of taxpayers money..yes and that includes MY GODDAMN TAX TOO.
Brian Chengala, Angela Nyirenda, Saboi Imboila, Danny Peddle(whole almost did some time too for stealing some dough), Mozageta, Mathew Tembo, James Chamayanzi, Moses Sakala and comedian Bob Nkoshya were at the court during the trial and sentencing to shoe their support for Maiko. In my opinion,they all went there to see that justice was served.....cuz one less artist means less competition. Im just saying,haha.
Part of the sentence is that he will have to do speak against drug abuse at 10 Lusaka High Schools and do 6 months community service. He will be further called upon to speak at certain functions against weed abuse and he wont be paid for it.
Damn! 5 balls of weed and the police raise hell! yet they let child molesters and wife beaters roam the streets. I am out of here....will be smoking a joint myself by the time you read this story.
By the way peep this Zambian tabloid I came across here. they are on the come up for real. they are encouraging Zed celebrities to step their fashion game up. I feel them,cuz I think that most musicians have no swagger at all.

DIVINE TRIBE

Divine tribe is on, alive and hot. The group consisting of three hip hop artists all of whom are from Lusaka’s northmead assemblies of God Church are taking the nation by storm as they storm the media on both television and radio. With recent appearances on Muvi TV shows like Teen Star and consistent appearances on Ready for marriage the group has been able to rock shows around Lusaka, Kabwe, Mazabuka and the Copperbelt. It’s an all guys group with the youngest being 18 yrs and the oldest 21yrs of age.
They are a kind of youth that fit in with the rest of the hip hop generation of our time having a dress code of braided hair, baggie jeans and oversized T-shirts. They just make their fans crazy when they are on stage and everyone just gets dancing. With a hit-track on their album like NINALI WOSOBA which is my personal favorite, The word content in their lyrics gives you an idea of how deep their relationship with their GOD is and what they would sacrifice just to be with God. I had the privilege of being with these guys in a youth camp for a week on the Copperbelt and I was really challenged by what I saw God doing through their lives. Their album is now out and was touched by the countries leading music producing companies like Romaside studios, Khula studios and Sling beats. Promo Artist Of The Week..Jimmy

This dude came out of nowhere with 'Over Over' This song was all over....in people's phones,cars, on radio in the club...errbody was singing along . Its Over Over created such a buzz that it became a national anthem. There were rumors that the story in the song was true...that Jimmy lost his gal before their wedding day. It was all lies of course..Jimmy went on National TV to clear the air.

When his album came out..I almost slept on it because I thot he was too overated. I felt like he hadnt earned in place in Zambian music....boy I was wrong. The album is a pure banger. Most of the tracks where produced at Romaside Studios by Tk. But the lead single Over Over...was not done at Romaside. Tk kinda jumped on Jimmy when he heard the song. This is the second time I saw tk 'steal' an artist. He did it when the group 'The Third' after their single 'Nifunsako' created a buzz.He jumped on their project and produced their whole album.

We are nearing the Independence celebrations...and I had to post these grooves thats gonna take us all back to our roots. This is the real Zambian music.....music that talks about matters of life...straight from the soul. Music that has and will still stand the test of time.

I remember how it used to be back in the day when I was growing up....My dad had boxes of records.....The Mulemena boys etc...everything oldschool. So he taught me how to play a record and i used to play them records just for the hell of it...you know...straight from school...with a couple of friends. On saturday mornings when he was home....it was all groovy around the house. mum in kitchen preparing breakfast..me sitting on the lawn outside trying to watch my school uniform..I was 10 by the way. Days rolled on just like that....and now that I am grown..its beginning to mean something to me....sort of a sense of belonging. New Zed Grooves & Requests

My ipod is still down...but I am going to recover most of the music on it.....I just installed ubunthu linux on my pc so I am able to move the songs off the ipod onto the harddrive. Its a tricky process but I have tried it yesterday with a frendz ipod....it also got f*&ked up the same like mine. I also discovered that it was partly because of a virus that corrupted the itunes database in the ipod. So Im really in a mellow mood right now (somebody give me a light,Im finin smoke a blunt! LOL)

I was able to come across a few songs that some of you guys(.....and ladies) requested and a few new ones I got from some frendz who came from Lusaka. Iam announcing that my ipod deleted all my music last night. My daughter pulled on the cable before I could safely eject it....now its saying there is no music on it....but the space is still filled up...so maybe I cud get back my 25 000 mp3s some way. In the event that I cant get my music back....I am gonna post a farewell mixtape that me and Dj Emissary of messenjahsounds.com have been working on. I was working on the cover of the same mixtape yesterday when this happened. I feel lifeless right now.....that music took me almost 5 years to collect and if its lost foever, I have to start from scratch. Blue Bridge launches 'Rock Zambia'

BLUE Bridge studio has launched a music compilation dubbed Rock Zambia.

This is in a bid to promote raw music talent among young Zambians who do not have the financial muscle to exploit their potential.

As such, the compilation will be produced on both audio and video CDs in meeting the demands of the market.

“This project is borne out of the desire to promote raw talent among young Zambians who may otherwise not have an opportunity to exploit their potentials,” project director Sai Chilengi’s media statement reads.

He announced that the project commenced last June with close to 90 participants auditioning.

“A panel of veteran music activists was constituted as judges and after the auditions, 36 artistes were shortlisted.

“The project has now moved to recording full songs by these 36 artistes,” he added.

Chilengi explained that the 36 songs would be subjected to further screening with the view of picking 15 songs to qualify for compilation.

He explained that the final phase of the project is planned for November.

“There will be 15 different acts on this double album (audio and video) which has attracted artistes of ages between 15 to 30 years, the artistes are all new and unsung,” Chilengi noted.

He stated that a bonus track could be a possibility on the album but would be done by an already established and popular Zambian singer.

“The Blue Bridge studio, which is part of the Blue Bridge nightclub, will distribute the album through established music dealers and we also plan to set up our own distribution network,” Chilengi stated.

He is confident the Rock Zambia project, aimed at providing opportunities to young Zambians to earn a living through their talents, would be a successful debut under the Blue Bridge CD/DVD label.

“While we are committed to this cause, we do realise that there are other people and organisations who are actively involved in the promotion of art in our country, we are keen to learn from them and we would like to ask for their support, be it moral or material in order for us to achieve the intended objective,” added Chilengi.

Arriste Honour Levy (R.I.P)

OUTPOURING tributes, solemn scenes and grieving moments continue to characterise the country’s activities as hundreds of thousands mourn President Levy Mwanawasa.

In the capital Lusaka, multitudes have turned up to salute President Mwanawasa and artistes are not left out.

Gospel and secular artistes alike have compiled tribute numbers in honour of the late President Mwanawasa.

Popular singer James Chamanyazi has teamed up with Lady Cha, Chris Aka and Shamack for a title track honouring President Mwanawasa.

Produced by Chabota, the four-minute song traces President Mwanawasa’s contribution to the country’s development before ascending to the top job as well as in his capacity as head of state.

“We salute what he did for this country,” said Chamanyazi in an interview with the Weekend Post. “That is how we came up with this song to honour him.”

Chris Aka said President Mwanawasa was an inspiration to Zambian artistes and deserved an honourable sendoff.

National Arts Council of Zambia (NACZ) chairperson Mulenga Kapwepwe said the death of President Mwanawasa would negatively affect the visual arts and theatre industry.

Kapwepwe said the misfortune had not left out the arts council.
“It’s a very sad moment for all Zambians, including the National Art Council because it was only through his administration that the arts’ calendar became part of the independence celebrations,” she said.

Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) chairperson Maureen Lilanda said musicians had been privileged with many developmental opportunities under president Mwanawasa’s administration.

“It goes without saying that his death is a real loss to everybody in the entertainment industry. The President died at a time when things were beginning to work out for us under his good policies,” she lamented.

Singer Danny Siulapwa said he would remember President Mwanawasa for fostering the zero rate tax on imported music equipment.

“It was under his leadership that for the first time the importation of music equipment would not attract any tax. As an artiste I can only pledge to, through music, contribute to comforting and uniting Zambians,” he said.

Meanwhile, top comedians Thomas Sipalo and Levy Ngoma, popularly known as Diffikoti and Bikkiloni said their production has been affected.
“I can’t believe that we have to drop his name from our production because we had always talked about the President as ‘Bashi Chipo’ and we can no longer talk about him,” Bikkiloni said.

And Diffikoti described President Mwanwasa as a tolerant leader who understood the concept of comedy without hurting.

“He was our man, and in most cases we would have him as our comedy subject and he tolerated us,” said Diffikoti.

SA's Bleksem Works with Mozambique’s Dama do Bling in MTV Making the Video Challenge with Shell

South African kwaito sensation Bleksem is eagerly awaiting the final cut for his brand new music video for ‘Thula Uzoyiboma’. Created by a team of four energetic young video practitioners mentored by Canadian director, Little X, the smoking hot video will be the latest output from the MTV Making the Video with Shell Challengeand features a sizzling collaboration between Bleksem and Mozambique’s hip hop queen, Dama do Bling, produced by DJ Cleo.

The music video for ‘Thula Uzoyiboma’ will be premiered for the first time on Saturday 6 September in Johannesburg, when it will be unveiled in front of celebrity guests and media during a special preview party at the Movida nightclub in Sunninghill, Johannesburg. The music video will subsequently premiere on MTV base (DStv Channel 322) in October 2008.

Bleksem’s music video is to be produced by a team of South African music video wannabes handpicked by LITTLE X, veteran director of more than 80 videos including projects for Sean Paul, Jay-Z and Rihanna. The team (unknown at the time of going to press) will be handpicked by LITTLE X after MTV base issued a challenge for South African film makers to work on the 2008 Making the Video with Shell Challenge. Working against the clock and to a fixed budget, the team has just 6 days to produce, script, shoot and edit a professional standard music video.

Jk To Tour USA

ZAMBIAN singer Jordan Katembula a.k.a JK has received an invitation to perform in the United States of America next month.

In an interview with the Weekend Post, JK said he is scheduled to leave the country on September 11.

JK is expected to visit eight cities during his solo tour.
“I will be going alone though I wanted to go with Mampi, but she couldn’t sort out her visa on time,” he said.

JK, who hit the local music scene as a solo performer after leaving New Age in the late 1990’s, is craving to wet the appetite of his fans during the two-month tour.

Having enjoyed massive following from the days of his self-titled debut release to date, JK is confident of attracting impressive crowds to his shows in the US.

According to a programme released by Op-entertainment, organisers of the tour, JK’s schedule runs through to November.

The singer’s first show will be in Washington DC on September 13, before heading to Chicago seven days later.

On September 27, JK has a show in Pittsburgh, PA with New Yorkers welcoming the Zambian artiste on October 4.

Dallas, TX, will host JK on October 11 before other shows in Atlanta, GA, Benton Harbour, Michigan and Boston, MA on October 20 and 27 as well as November 1 respectively.

First of all,I am so upset the shareonall.com is closed down,cuz half of my links where distributed there. Seconddly,I have been up and down of late trying to get my school thing to work. I am doing a Radio Broadcasting course and at the same time Im trying to enrol for a BA in Communication Science at UNISA. The internet hasnt been good for some time...there has been a lot of bullshit going on and I was almost closing the blog...more like put it on hold for a while. Lastly,Im trying to get my singing career up and moving....like I always say,I have been writing a lot of songs for some time....most of which wont make it on my debut album...cuz you know Iam a perfectionist,I want to make quality music that can stand the test of time,and uplift people. So Im kinda stuck on what producer to go to,which label should I take my demo,which distributers can best put my music out there and so on....worse I dont even have a manager....even if I had one,I still like to do things my own way...u know that one-man-army sh*t. And I have been building my own house for some time now..its almost done,shud be moving in in about two weeks time....its nothing big,just a place I can call home. this is just a wrap of whats going on in my life right now.

Now about the blog,I gatta say that its amazing howmany people appreciate music the way that I do. I thank everyone who has come to my blog and got some music...especially those who left comments.

Slap Dee is the epitome of a true rhyme sayer,a born rapper...real smooth rhymes and killer punch lines. Right now..there is no rapper in Africa that can spit so fresh like him....no washed up rhymes about 24 inch car rims,jesus pieces hanging to the knees or thousand dollar wrist watches,...Just pure reality delivered in a creative breath- of- fresh- air flow. if he doesnt win an award for this album, then people dont appreciate real artistry. Beats lased by Raydo from Digital X. I didnt know Raydo was a killer on the boards like this...damn... he goes in my top list now.

And slap Dee doesnt write rhymes....dude just spits venom on beats...even the killer single'Nizee' was a freestyle.

Label Execs marketed is as a product and not as a culture.Nowadays labels pay for record spins..thats why radio plays the same songs all the time...its not like the old days when a dj wud pick and play his own music. Thats why Sojah Boy gets to sell more records than Hi-tek...and yet Tek is 100000 times far better than SB. there is nothing wrong with Soljah boy....cuz I done did his dance too and I have some of his music.But the thing is..I have had a chance to listen to some real hiphop,say Nas,Koo Moe Dee,Cool G Rap,LL Cool J,Rakim..the list goes on...but the average person hasnt....so when he listens to SB...he think dude is the shit..cuz thats all he is exposed to. Thats what on BET,MTV ,thats what radio plays..when he hits the web..that what bloggers post,so thats real to him. But dig this post..and if I was you I wud download all these songs.

I am away right now fellas...and ladies! so I am not able to post some nu muzik.
I am in Livingstone...attending a workshop..and I have had a chance to meet some really wonderful guys who share the same passion for music like I do. there is DJ Vicious, he plays at Fairmount hotel casino/night club. we just hooked up and I will be playing with him on Friday. the club at fiarmount is really state of the art..if thats the phrase,neon lights....killa CD players and mixer...its jst wow...I cant wait for friday for me to check it out and play some of my best club joints. and there is this dj who plays at limpo's...we exchanged music...I had him come to my hotel room with his CDs and I ripped them . I am really happy man....really happy that Im beginning to find a niche......... you dig. and yeah...there is a frend of mine here is Lvngstone who is working for the Army...they have regular gigs and he just invited me to play there...this time for MONEY!!!!!!!!!.
I cant believe this...my name is really geting out there and I am finaly getting the respect I deserve. But ammaakeep it humble and keep doing what I do best........play only the best music.
so I gatta get established real quick.....like get registered......print business cards....and buy my own CD players and mixers, I was gonna buy the Idj2 since I gat an ipod but the reviews dissapointed me...so I am not gonna spend my money...hard earned that is...on some gadget that wont make me the best dj,haha. I gat some bi'ness cards already but I gatta update it.
